about us
Birmingham & Wood Architects Planners LLP was founded in 1939 and is a small firm with two principals Sandra Moore Architect AIBC and Annalisa Meyboom PEng MRAIC. Our size and organization enables us to offer our clients the major commitment of a principal to each project while having the full support of the team.
Birmingham & Wood has developed a diverse body of work across a broad range of typologies and scales including cultural, residential, commercial and civic projects, as well as master-planning exercises. We do both design for new construction as well as thoughtful renovation of existing structures. The practice has recieved numerous awards and recognition, including City of Vancouver heritage awards, as well as the lieutenant governor’s award for architecture for the design of Mountian View Cemetery (see recognition section for a full listing). We believe in beautiful simplicity.
The firm is currently involved in many ‘missing middle’ housing initiatives and recently completed work with Small Housing BC in developing a library of design tools to advance gentle density throughout the province. Our approach to this scale of housing involves careful design of the units so they are family friendly and liveable while always considering construction costs and approaches. Aspects such as private outdoor space, playspace and overlook are other prime drivers for these types of projects.
